He also plays a key role in organizing Baahrakhari Golf, Nepal’s premium amateur golf tournament, which is a flagship annual event of Baahrakhari Media.     Skill Share Teachers Exchange Program The Climate Project Foundation has launched an innovative program under its Green Campus Program called, Skill Share Teachers Exchange Program. It provides the teachers an opportunity to broaden their horizons by exploring and collaborating with schools from different parts of the country. It is an interstate exchange program for the teachers to immerse themselves in diverse educational environments, culture while learning about innovative green practices and hands-sustainable solutions. Four teachers from Gyan Anant Vidyalaya visited St. Mary’s School to learn about their sustainable and innovative green practices. They were particularly impressed by a mini forest on the campus consisting of 1600 native plants, which is maintained by the students. Additionally, they learned about the school's use of tetra packs in constructing a soundproof music room, the implementation of water meters for water conservation, and the buddy plant system aimed at fostering a connection between students and nature while instilling a sense of responsibility towards it. These practices showcased a holistic approach towards environmental education and sustainability. Overall, the experience proved to be incredibly enriching for the visiting teachers. Visit of Mother’s Public School, Odisha to Tagore International School, New Delhi On 15th April, 02 teachers from Mother's Public School, Bhubaneswar, Odisha visited Tagore International School, East of Kailash, New Delhi. They were provided with an overview of the sustainable practices and green school initiatives, showcasing the commitment to environmental stewardship. A comprehensive tour of the school’s eco-friendly infrastructure highlighted the dedication to sustainability in various aspects of school life. Additionally, the Vice Principals had the opportunity to observe the inclusive academic practices, which prioritize student-centered learning. This exchange of ideas and practices served to strengthen collaboration between educational institutions from Odisha and Delhi, fostering a spirit of mutual learning and growth. The second day of the exchange program delved deeper into the school’s culture and ethos. Throughout the day, they experienced the dynamic energy of the school community and gained insights into the rich cultural heritage. The visit of the teachers from Mother's Public School, Bhubaneswar, proved to be enriching and fruitful.     Water Conservation Water is life. We have been listening to this phrase since time immemorial, but do we realize its importance for our sustenance. India along with some other nations is going through an unprecedented water crisis. There are many factors that have led to this water crisis in our country, the major being the impacts of climate change. Due to climate change we are experiencing erratic rainfalls, cloud bursts, the number of rain days are decreasing, the droughts are drier and draining rivers, aquifers, and reservoirs. In urban as well as rural landscapes, catchment areas are decreasing with large-scale wetland degradation and poor water management. Climate Reality Is Working Intensively On Programs Like Traditional Rainwater Harvesting Systems as Well As Offline / Online Workshops To Create Local Water Warriors.. Success Stories Rain Water Harvesting Project At Ambegaon, Pune The Climate Reality Project - India under the able guidance of our National Coordinator for Water conservation, Col. Shashikant Dalvi (Retd.) launched the Rain Water Harvesting project in 04 districts of Pune namely, Karegaon, Bhavadi, Kurwandi and Thugaon falling under Ambegaon Taluk. With the kind support from ICICI, MAPS, these districts started their journey from being water starved to water sufficient areas. Read Full Story Rain water Harvesting Project at Kamkheda Village, Beed District Beed is one of the worst drought hit districts of the Marathwada region in Maharashtra. The rainfall pattern here is uneven. The region also saw the effects of el-nino phenomenon from 2010-2017. Tens of thousands of Beed residents have no choice but to struggle hard to source the basic necessity – water. With the help of our National Coordinator for Water Conservation, Retd. Col. Shashikant Dalvi, the pilot project to make Beed district water sufficient, was started. A number of awareness programs were conducted on rain water harvesting for the villagers and members of Gram Panchayat of Kaamkheda village in Beed. In April 2018, it was decided to start the implementation of the program in the village. The project was also supported by MAPS Industries (I) Pvt. Ltd. Pune. The project has shown good results and we believe that soon the district will become water- tanker free. The state government is also replicating this project in other Talukas.     Back Bharti Chibber National Coordinator Sustainability Education Dr Bharti Chhibber is teaching in University of Delhi, India for more than seventeen years. She is a well-known academic, author, socio-political analyst, and an environmentalist working, extensively writing and speaking in India and abroad for many years in the field of international relations, foreign diplomacy, Sustainable Development Goals, gender, health issues, climate change, climate justice, refugees, environmental education, renewable energy, international environmental laws, waste management and biodiversity conservation. Dr Chhibber is a Climate Reality Leader and Honorary National Coordinator-Education for Environment Conservation and Sustainable Development at the Climate Reality Project India (TCPI). A meritorious scholar, Dr. Chhibber has pursued her B.A. Hons. and M.A. from Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi and M.Phil. and Ph. D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, India. Prof Chhibber has more than 150 published books, research papers and articles in national and international journals and mass media to her credit. She has been honoured with international and national awards, has received fellowships, worked on projects, mentored scholars, and is regularly invited as a subject expert in electronic and print media interviews and discussions. She has also worked extensively with other organizations to create awareness and empower people on environmental, educational and gender issues. Further, Dr. Chhibber wrote and directed plays on ‘Environmental Conservation’ and 'Women Rights' which were staged by college students and received wide appreciation. In addition to conferences, Dr. Chhibber has organised several field events for educators, students and experts like sapling plantation drive, and have also contributed to waste paper recycling, herbal garden, and waste to compost projects.     Back Seema Bali National Coordinator Sustainability Education Seema Bali is the Vice Principal at St. Mary’s School, Dwarka, New Delhi, where she has served since 2009. With a career spanning over three decades, she also heads the Science Department and is a key member of the School Management Committee. Seema’s expertise lies in curriculum development, having collaborated with NCERT on the “Development of Training Package in Biology at Higher Secondary Stage” and edited the "Eureka Plus-Science Series" for Classes 1-8. She has been instrumental in faculty development, coordinating training sessions, and class observations. Seema is also the Deputy Superintendent for CBSE board exams since 2004 and plays a crucial role in the inclusion of Children with Special Needs (CWSN). Her contributions extend beyond academics; she has mentored students in eco-friendly initiatives, earning numerous awards, including the "Best Practice Innovation" Award from the School of Educators Global Education Awards, and the “Innovation and Successful Implementation” Award from TERI and TETRA PAK. She has also trained students to represent India at international forums, such as the Children’s World Summit on Environment in Japan. Seema is a recognized figure in sustainability education, having authored and presented “Sustainability Education through the Lens of a School” at the International Conference on Sustainability Education. She has represented India at the NCD Alliance workshop in Geneva and is a Master Trainer for the "Happy School Curriculum" with CBSE. Seema’s work embodies her commitment to integrating environmental consciousness and sustainable practices into the educational landscape.     Back Phurpa Lama Country Coordinator Phurpa Lama is from Nepal, a dedicated climate activist and educator hailing from Nepal, boasting over 13 years of expertise in addressing climate change issues. His journey began in Denmark, where he was selected to attend the come2gether Climate Ambassador Conference in 2009. Further enhancing his knowledge, he earned a degree in Crossing Borders Global Studies from Krogerup Hojskole in Denmark, focusing on environmental sustainability, climate change, and UN Sustainable Development Goals. Between 2012 and 2015, he served as a Resource Person at the NEFIN Climate Change Partnership Program in Nepal. In 2013, he underwent training by former US Vice President Al Gore and officially became a Climate Reality Leader for the Climate Reality Project. His commitment extended to numerous performances on climate change in isolated Nepalese villages, accompanied by over two dozen training sessions on climate change and REDD+ issues for various Indigenous Peoples organizations. His efforts aimed to empower communities with knowledge about the climate crisis, fostering meaningful actions for change. Notably, he initiated the "Light Up A Life For A Better Nepal" project after the devastating earthquake in 2015. This project, launched shortly thereafter, focused on supplying solar power lamps to villages devoid of electricity, concurrently raising awareness about the harmful impact of petrol-powered lamps. The primary objective is to introduce solar systems to hundreds of homes currently without electricity, replacing fossil fuel-based lighting systems in Nepal's remote mountain villages with sustainable alternatives. His advocacy extends globally, as he mentored during Climate Reality Leadership Corps events held in New Delhi, Florida, Philippines, and Pittsburgh.     Back Md. Shakhawat Chowdhury National Coordinator Md. Shakhawat Chowdhury is a veteran activist with over 17 years of experience in environmental protection, research programs and policy advising. His major area of expertise includes communication with class stakeholders, partnering with peer organizations, catering common interests and swiftly executing project objectives. He made notable contribution in base line data collection and supporting paramount scientific researches on micro plastic and marine debris in past decades. He partnered with Climate Reality during March 2016 and passionately facilitating CR movement in Bangladesh and neighboring region since then. Mr. Chowdhury is a lawyer by profession and tenured at an international law firm mostly advising and assisting cross border transactions and investments, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory and revenue, compliance and managements, managing energy and resources, power generation and supply businesses. He complements Environmental, Social and Governance - ESG in his own work and promotes among other legal practitioners. He was taught Environmental and Climate Change Laws at University of Cardiff.     Back G. Krishnakumar National Coordinator Just Transition He is an electrical engineer by education from NIT Calicut, having more than four decades of experience in industries, customer service and non-profit management. He got certified as energy auditor in 2006 & completed certifications in energy management and environment management systems, which introduced him to climate science. In 2015 he became a Climate Reality Leader at New Delhi. This training and exposure helped him to effectively organize many state, national and international workshops to disseminate sustainable energy related topics to different categories of audience – professionals, students , industry personnel and so on. In different capacities in Society of Energy Engineers and Managers (SEEM), he is instrumental in organizing international workshops in ‘hands on training in energy audit ‘ at JNPT, Mumbai in 2011 and another one on ‘"Evolving Energy Models in Emerging Economies-Post COP21’ at Ahmedabad in 2016. Both these events attracted international participation from about two dozen countries. Presently as General Secretary of SEEM, he have embarked on an ambitious project – ‘Decarbonization India Alliance (DIA) to accelerate India’s progress towards Net Zero goal of 2070.This envisages to bring on one platform, organizations which are required to reduce carbon emissions and those organizations and individuals who can facilitate emission reduction.
