Voices of Hope- A conversation with David Wallace Wells
The Climate Project Foundation and Jane Goodall Institute, India co-hosted a conversation with David Wallace Wells, Editor-at-Large, New York magazine. He is the writer of the renowned book on climate change ‘the Uninhabitable Earth’ that talks about what earth might be like after suffering the ravages of toxic air, water shortages and melting ice caps become all too real sooner than we think.
The event saw the presence of Media professionals, Youth groups from schools and colleges and Climate leaders from South Asia. David started the conversation by recalling his early days as a journalist. He shared how he dive deep on finding the correlation between Climate change and weather disasters; thus, he was able to relate with the trend more clearly. He also shared some alarming statistics that have further built upon the arguments put forth in his book ‘The Inhabitable Earth’. David emphasized more on scientific solution deployment bridging the gap between developed and developing nations on technology transfer and financial mechanism. |
Inauguration of Rain Water Harvesting Projects
On the occasion of the World Environment Day 2021, the Climate Project Foundation has launched an ambitious and challenging Rain Water Harvesting project, in four districts of Pune, Maharashtra. These districts are currently dependent on tankers for their everyday water needs. The villages namely are: Bhavadi, Koregaon, Kurvandi and Thugaon.

The project has been initiated by the (Retd) Col. Shashikant Dalvi, National Coordinator for Water, The Climate Reality Project foundation. Within the next four months, these villages will be converted into water sufficient and tanker free areas. In the opening ceremony, Col. Shashikant Dalvi explained all about village RWH systems and benefits. BDO and Agriculture Officer appreciated efforts of the Climate Reality India for their efforts towards converting these four waters starved villages to water Sufficient and ICICI bank for providing funds.

Climate Reality Leader Highlight- Tenzing Jamyang
Climate Reality Leader Tenzing Jamyang has undertaken the project " Youth Engagement in Climate Change" virtually for different Tibetan schools in India. The project Youth Engagement in Climate Change will provide a platform for young Tibetans of secondary years to understand, and find solutions in tackling the issue of Climate Change at individual as well as community level.
A total of 38 ninth and tenth grade students of Sambhota Tibetan School (STS) Chandragiri, Orissa took part in the first session of the Youth Engagement in Climate Change virtual program on 14th and 15th of June. The students are currently developing their own climate action plan. Tenzing will be undertaking around 30 virtual presentations for different Tibetan schools in India for students of ninth to twelfth grade. |
Environment Day 2021
This year the theme for Environment Day was ‘generation restoration’. Keeping the theme in mind, The Climate Project Foundation joined hands with UNEP and Mobius Foundation organised a webinar to bring this youth power at the centre of conversation by bringing stories of restoration from India from different ecosystems.
The event saw sectoral experts joining in and sharing various success stories of ecosystem restoration like mangrove restoration, lake restoration, coral transplantation, and urban forestry restoration through innovative solutions like miyawaki, hydroponics. The Climate Reality India also introduced their Summer Camp for Students of GCP Schools. |
Summer Camp for GCP Schools
With a view to ignite the creative skills of youngsters towards environmental conservation during the summer vacations, the Climate Project Foundation introduced an innovative summer program for students. This Summer Program was ONLY for students of all registered Green schools with us. Under this program, the young environmentalists were provided training in telling their own story and presenting their work in front of the world.
The students participated in three days’ workshops which included mentor’s guidance sessions with experts from film making, storytelling, volunteering projects and many more. More than 500 students have already registered and based on their interest and performance, would be mentored further to take up real time projects relating to environment and sustainability. |
