CLIMATE CHANGE AWARENESS AND EDUCATION
Teachers’ Training Program in Maharashtra
A series of nine teachers training workshops were organised in three districts (Satara, Kolhapur and Sangli) of Maharashtra and Mumbai from 8 - 18th January 2019. These high impact workshops provide an overview on climate change and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and sensitize the teachers about the relevance of teaching climate change and Sustainable Development Goals, and to bring leadership in schools and colleges for the change.
The workshops were organised with the help of Dr. Nandini Deshmukh, Climate Reality Leader and local colleges. More than 900 teachers from different colleges and schools were reached and trained in this series.

Climate change presentation for MCD Schools
The climate change presentation was delivered to the Maths and Science teachers of Municipal Corporation Delhi in four sessions and each session had more than 30 teachers. The teachers showed a keen interest in understanding climate change and how they can take the message of climate action to the students.

CLIMATE REALITY LEADERS IN ACTION
Run for Unity
On 10th February, Mr. Shivam Singh, Climate Reality Leader from Pune, organized a Marathon 'Run for Unity' at Symbiosis School Ground, Pune to spread awareness about climate change.
The 6k Marathon which was themed on climate change denial was hosted by Mr Aditya Pundir, Country Manager and Colonel Shashikant Dalvi, District Manager, The Climate Reality Project. There were more than 300 participants who channelled their way,completing the marathon trails with utmost vigor and enthusiasm. The event was a success with the energy brimming constantly.

Rainwater Harvesting in District Beed, Maharashtra
The Marathawada region of the Maharashtra is water deficient and the villagers depend on the groundwater to meet their daily water needs that has decreased the ground water table to more than 500 ft.
The water coordinator of The Climate Reality Project India Col (retd) Shashikant Dalvi decided to make the area from water deficient to water sufficient. He started with awareness programmes and then implemented the roof top harvesting systems in 20 buildings and 5 borewells that will recharge 14 lakh litres of rain water.
On 11th Feb 2019, RWH structures were formally inaugurated and dedicated to the villagers. Local MLA Mr Laxmanrao Pawar announced Kaamkheda village to be the first one to implement groundwater recharge as per GR. He also agreed to provide funds to implement more Rain Water Harvesting in the village.
