Climate Change Education and Awareness
A series of teachers training workshops on 'climate change and sustainable development goals (with special focus on environmental goals) for the safer planet' were organised in Maharashtra (covering Districts Satara, Sangli, Kolhpur and Mumbai) and Mumbai in January 2019. We reached and interacted with more than 900 teachers.
Lucknow Roundtable Conference on “Climate Action for a Sustainable Future”
Considering the vulnerability and sensitivity of the State to the climate change, it is imperative to strengthen policies and programmes for ensuring sustainable development of the State. The Roundtable aimed at initiating a dialogue on the climate change issues and related policies in the State of Uttar Pradesh and provide an exposure to the participants on the wider global debate on climate change related to sustainable development. One of the session focused on providing a participatory platform for climate action and education to bring about positive change in the society.
Climate change experts, policy makers, educators and civil society representatives of the State participated in the roundtable discussion. A roundtable conference was organized in Lucknow on 31st May 2018 in partnership with SEED India. |
World Environment Day 2018: Spotlights from Climate Reality Leaders
#BeatPlasticPollution event in Mumbai
Mrs Elsie Gabriel organized an event on WED 2018, where over 200 citizens gathered on the streets in Hiranandani Powai, Mumbai to demonstrate against plastic bags and promoted the World Environment day theme #Beatplasticpollution. Free eco-friendly bags were distributed.

Rain Water Harvesting in Beed District, Maharashtra
Col. Shashikant Dalvi started the rooftop rainwater harvesting project in association with Climate Reality India, at Village Khamkheda, Beed, one of the water starved region in Maharashtra. The work of rainwater recharge was completed in 4 dry wells, just before this World Environment Day.

Principals’ Conclave is a series of leadership workshops with the aim to sensitise the heads of education institutions about the relevance of teaching SDG’s and climate change and to bring leadership in schools for the change.

Uttarakhand Chapter of Principals Conclave on “Teaching Sustainable Development Goals and Climate Change Education”
Uttarakhand Chapter of Principal Conclave on “Teaching the Sustainable Development Goals and Climate Change Education for Safer Planet” was held on 18th August, 2017, at Madhuban Hotel, Dehradun. The main aim of the workshop was to sensitize the principals of Government Schools in Uttarakhand, about the relevance of teaching SDG’s and climate change and to bring leadership in schools for change.
Approximately 50 principals from government schools falling under the Department of Education, Government of Uttarakhand participated in the conclave. Shri S. B Joshi, Chief Education Officer, Dehradun was the Guest of Honour. The event was organized in partnership with The Climate Reality Project India, UNESCO, New Delhi and HaritaDhara Research Development and Education Foundation (HRDEF).

Earth Day 2017 - Tree Plantation Event
The Climate Reality Project India and Paharpur Business Centre in partnership with Earth Day Network, celebrated Earth Day 2017 in Delhi-NCR schools, by inviting schools to hold a tree plantation drive in their school campus.
Dignitaries from 18 embassies and other senior officials also joined the various schools and planted tree saplings with children, to celebrate Earth Day 2017 and supported environment and climate literacy, the theme for this Earth Day.
Celebrating Earth Day in schools reminds every student to be an environmental and climate literate citizen, ready to take an action and be a voice for conservation and change.
Climate Reality Leaders (CRL) meeting in Mumbai:
A meeting for Mumbai CRLs was organised on 28th May 2017. The meeting was attended by ten Climate Leaders from Mumbai and Mr. Reid Deaver, Facility Manager, US Embassy. The India team explained the CRLs about its campaigns and programs like 100% Committed, Principal’s Conclave. India branch future plans and ways to have more engagement with CRLs were also discussed during the meeting.
